Before investigating the Crystal Tower, G’raha had been a bit of a showoff. Upon meeting the Warrior of Light for the first time, he challenged them to a few playful competitions, coming off as eccentric. However, though he was slightly bratty at the time, he had plenty of good qualities about him as well. Despite how easily excitable he was, he still possessed the leadership skills that eventually led to him founding the Crystarium.

Throughout the 300 years spent in the First, his soul grew older. He matured as a person. Even now, the one desire that remains is his desire to go on grand adventures, more specifically with the Warrior of Light. His dream had been to become a hero -- much like those of eld -- ever since he was a young boy. He’d never liked being left behind, watching the others while he played backup.

G'raha is very intelligent, regarding himself as a historian of the Allagan Empire. The special royal bloodline had heavily influenced him to begin his studies to find answers regarding the Royal Eye that he possessed, consuming much of his life. He is also very aware of his downfalls and limits, though he doesn’t always heed them, depending on the seriousness of the situation.

Though it was for a brief moment in the story, while trying to find the cure for tempering, he managed to memorize the magick needed before the magitek terminals blew up despite only being shown for a short time. This suggests that he possesses some innate skill of having a photographic memory. He is careful not to show his hand too soon, strategically thinking things over. During Ran’jit’s visit to the Crystarium, he made the twins and Warrior of Light vanish from sight. He had also used "Break" on him, a spell to stop him from chasing the Scions from taking care of the next lightwarden. When asked by Ran'jit if he was ready for a fight, he admitted he would have no chance and conceded it would be foolish to fight him.

As the Crystal Exarch, he had become much more well-spoken. He’d often remained professional in most circumstances, only really showing his true self on rare occasions. One example is when he suggested that he take his life if all else fails to get them home. Alisaie flicked him on the forehead. He became much less reserved upon returning to the Source. He’s overly polite and respectful toward people around him; Sometimes to the point where it’s too formal.

Above all, G’raha wants to become a beacon of hope to those around him. May it be people who had looked to him as a leader or just anybody who has fallen to despair. Hope is everlasting. It’s also the purpose of the Crystal Tower and those who built it. Once learning about his bloodline, he decided to seal and slumber within the Tower as its protector. Coming to the First, he started the Crystarium to stand as a symbol of hope that there is still a way to fight back the impending doom. Beq Lugg asked him if he wanted to return. He responded to her with the following, ”When all falls down around you, rise up. There may come a day when all hope seems lost. But even should the rest of the world give in to despair--we shall not. We shall fight on, that our children and our children’s children might know a better tomorrow.”

Both Vaultry and Ran’jit had looked down upon humanity’s chances of survival. His answer to them had been simple enough. He had insisted that people were more resilient than they gave them credit for; That achievements could not possibly come from conquest and fear but through compassion and understanding. Hope rises from unexpected sources, given the right inspiration and push to change. He was willing to put the Crystarium at risk for what he believed in, determined to free their world of lightwardens and sin eaters alike, no matter the cost.

By all rights, G’raha should have succumbed to his fate long ago but somehow managed to pull through in the most trying of times. This was the case while fighting Emet-Selch and while he was being consumed by the Tower’s overuse taking a toll on his body. Emet-Selch had even mentioned that he was surprised he could even stand, given everything he’d been through. Having become one with the Tower, he’d managed to become a vital instrument to taking care of not one Ascian but two.

He had been very secretive while using the guise of “Crystal Exarch” and hiding behind a cowl. He spoke little of himself, careful not to say or do anything that could give his true identity away. This was all for the sake of carrying out his plan to the end. He knew if the others knew what he was trying to do, they would do everything in their power to stop him. So he only entrusted his identity to Urianger, whom he begged for his help to keep his identity a secret until that time.

He had fully intended on sacrificing his life after the Warrior of Light defeated the last of the lightwardens. Once that time came, he would take all of the light from them and then take it with him to the rift where it would die with him. By doing this, it would not only save them from their fate but also save the First and free the Scions who were trapped there. Once he found out about the state of their souls, he was willing to risk his life to see his friends safely home.

He does occasionally proclaim to be an old man after spending 300 years in the First. Lyna mentions that he had attempted to open a letter with his salmon fillet and made a quick comment about how she suspected his mind was deteriorating. Once back in his old body, he made a few comments saying that he’d never thought he’d feel so young and spry after so long. He’s notably a workaholic and very rarely takes breaks or sleeps. Emet-Selch had once mentioned he hadn’t seen him retire to his quarters for more than forty winks.

Once invested in something, he will stubbornly work towards it with little disregard for his well-being. Though he plays a vital role in the story and other significant points, he downplays the impact he has made. He mentioned how little his efforts would matter when it comes down to the achievements of the Warrior of Light. His role would scarcely be remembered.

Though Unei and Doga only played a small part in the story, their presence plays a crucial part in his fate. They were the first real chance to find answers about his Royal Eye. With their blood, he was able to gain complete control over the Crystal Tower. During his time in the First, he had saved a young Viera girl named Lyna after sin eaters killed her parents. Judging by the way he spoke to her before heading to face Elidibus in the Tower, he has been raising her ever since she was little. He mentions the hideous lump that was meant to be a birthday cake for her tenth nameday. This suggests that she had to be relatively young, and as a resort, she’s become family to him.

The most prominent person who’s made an impact in his life is the Warrior of Light. From the beginning to returning to the Source, he has mentioned them as “his inspiration.” He holds a lot of adoration for them, not only for their strength but their resolve to push onward when things seem impossible. It’s because of them that he’s able to remain courageous and strong during his time as the Exarch, even before they arrive themselves. He mentions how happy he would be to talk as friends without the need for secrecy. He puts their needs and comfort above all else at any chance he can get. From putting together comforting living quarters at the inn to leaving them sandwiches to make sure they eat properly, he’ll urge them to take care of themselves and rest whenever possible. He holds them in the highest regard and occasionally gets teased about it.

Abilities & Inventory: During NOAH’s initial investigation of the Crystal Tower, G’raha only possessed one of the Allagan Eyes (also called the Royal Eyes) inherited from his father. However, Unei and Doga left him with a parting gift after the investigation into the Crystal Tower. By giving some of their blood to him, he was able to control the Crystal Tower.

The Allagan eyes only manifested in those in possession of royal blood, and thus only those born in the Allagan royal bloodline can control it. However, Allagan technology was pretty advanced and in the past calamities and other unfortunate circumstances happened when people tried to harness the power of the Allagans. Deeming it dangerous to use without proper knowledge of using it correctly, the NOAH group decided to seal the Crystal Tower. G’raha was able to seal the Tower with the royal blood and decided to slumber within it until someday humanity could catch up technologically.

Once he was roused from his deep slumber and the Tower awakened once more, they pinpointed the cause of the Eighth Umbral Calamity. Having pointed out the First as the cause, he learned how to bridge the rift between worlds and brought the Crystal Tower with him. By saving the First and changing the future, he could also save the Source and the Warrior of Light.

The Crystal Tower is the primary source of aether for him to do many things he’s capable of while serving as the Crystal Exarch in the First. However, it took about a century to prepare to summon the Warrior of Light who could combat the Light Wardens. It is an arduous task to master. At first, it latched on to the souls of those closest to the Warrior of Light instead.

One by one, he accidentally summoned the Scions while trying to call the Warrior of Light. Through his fumbling hand and attempts, the Scions came in only as souls who appeared to possess corporeal bodies but were in truth but spirits that could see and touch. They came incomplete without their natural bodies. The Warrior of Light was the only one to come with body and soul attached. While the Warrior of Light could come and go as they pleased, the rest of the Scions were trapped in the First until they could find a way to send their souls back safely with their memories and self intact.

Emet-Selch later mentioned that he had a hand in the Allagan Empire as well as the Garlean Empire. He claimed that the Tower could not summon the others like he had the Warrior of Light. Later on while fighting Emet-Selch, he also uses similar summoning skills to call upon champions from beyond the rift.

He surmised that the time it would take to truly save the First from barreling closer towards the Eighth Umbral Calamity, it would take much longer than he would have time to live. Taking this into account, he made himself one with the Crystal Tower to live indefinitely. However, he had become an extension of the Tower, and it had taken a toll on his body. More than just the crystal taking over his body, too much time away from the Tower and the further the distance made his body frail, making it difficult to go too far from the Tower.

Because he has attuned himself to the Tower, he also has access to the neigh infinite amount of aether it supplied, allowing him to pull off some pretty powerful magic. A few examples of this include manipulating the Ocular to show explanations or using the mirror to see what’s going around in Norvrant. He had also managed to hide the twins and Warrior of Light upon Ran’jit’s arrival, not wanting to show his hand too early. While the Scions were trying to rescue the Oracle, he managed to stop Ran’jit from following them with the help of what looked like an Allagan cube and (assumedly) part of the Tower. While going after Elidibus, he’s able to use “Break” once more without one, though his body had nearly been taken over by crystal by then.

With the assistance of Beq Lugg -- a scholar on souls -- and Urianger, they were able to fashion together a spirit vessel made of white auracite combined with some of G’raha’s crystallized essence. This would allow not only the souls of their friends to be safely transported back to the Source but also their memories. It was a huge undertaking that took a considerable toll on his body as he over-exerted the Tower’s aether.

These are all things that are important to note but have no bearing on Songerein. His unique eyes, royal bloodline, and abilities tied to the Crystal Tower would not be helpful in the setting, but it felt important enough to include them in this section.

Before venturing into the Syrcus Tower (also known as the Crystal Tower), G’raha’s primary weapon choice was a bow and arrow. As you go into Shadowbringers -- as the Crystal Exarch -- he later gets classified as an “All-Rounder.” He’s capable of filling any role necessary in the Trust system, though they’re technically Paladin, White Mage, or Black Mage. Even after returning to the Source, he retains this battle style, capable of flexing to whatever necessary role.

Without the Crystal Tower to rely on for energy, much of his magick has diminished in inefficiency but still manages to get by. He’s going to be adjusting to not having unlimited power at his disposal. He has made comments about how much more challenging it is, but he can adapt. He imbued Angelo the magick related to his royal bloodline, as he had with the spirit vessels to get his friends home safely. He required a few of his friends to help him with aether and use his own in the process.

A few abilities I would like G’raha to develop through dreamotion energy would be magic based on crystals. At this moment, I don’t have any definite plans for achieving this yet but felt that having dreamotion based on crystals would be highly fitting for him. I have also thought of possibly having him learn how to create smaller versions of Aetherytes that can be attuned to and used for teleportation in the future, but something like that would take a long time and a lot of hard work to do that. It would also require mod permission, I assume.

As far as what G’raha would be bringing along with him, there wouldn’t be a lot of items that he’d have on him. Off the top of my head, all I could think of would be his staff made from the Syrcus Tower crystals.

Suitability & Plans: Aside from just wanting to try G'raha in a game setting, I think he'd enjoy the chance to have gone on adventures that may ensue during his time in Songerein. He had spent so long as the Tower's keeper. All he's ever wanted was to go on adventures with the Warrior of Light and travel around. He'd be curious about the world and do his best to help out. After helping save one world, helping another will come naturally to him.

Test Drive Sample: TDM top level

Questions: Not really a question, but a note. I momentarily forgot how the journals worked until after my TL was commented on, so one of the prompts is inaccurate. His journal will appear like the tomestones, but be like a journal as intended.
